" For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to
prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. "Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
A home’s electrical system is more than a bunch of wires. It’s complex design provides energy to your entire house. Just like the wiring in a home, we need a system to keep God as the energizer of our lives. By creating a daily ritual that reminds you of His awesomeness, faith will continuously flow through you. Establish a faith so consistent that it makes doubt nonexistent.
We pray to communicate with God. When we pray, we are ourselves. Unfiltered, but as pure as baby Jesus. Mad, sad, or happy, go to Him. Don’t worry about saying the right thing a certain way for a specific amount of time. Just speak. Trust that He hears you. Become more truthful and open to Him. The more you pray, the less you become worried about anyone else’s opinion, but His. You will become more confident in who you are and the future He has planned for you.
Study the Bible
Don’t just read the Bible, study it. Through the Bible, we get to learn who God is firsthand. We get to read about His love, His wisdom, His power.
We also discover what God wants for us. Learn about the standards God set for His people. Relate to the stories that demonstrate faith and perseverance through difficult challenges as well as stories that describe the blessings God gives. Start a collection of verses that energize your soul and give you strength when you are weak.
Make it a priority. Get a physical Bible or download a virtual version like the Bible app (iOS, Android). Take notes and highlight verses that speak to you. Dedicate time to indulge in the stories. You can read it when you wake up, during your commute, during lunch, and before you go to sleep. If you can find time to watch stories on Snapchat, you can definitely find time to read stories about God’s wonders.
"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)
Join A Church
Finding a church home is one of my biggest goals for this year. I’ve been watching The Potter’s House for a little over 2 years now and love it, but I also need a physical church home, so I can fully immerse myself in God. I want to be around people who love Him like I do.
To find a church home, attend services at different churches to test them out. Invite a friend and make it a group activity if you don’t want to go alone. Pay attention to how the the scriptures being taught make you feel. Try mingling with members and ask questions. Become a member of the church that makes you feel the most comfortable and close to God.
Have faith running through your veins by establishing constant communication between you and God. Instill a system so strong that having faith in God becomes your best quality.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)
